Practice Area Profile:

The Operations (OPS) practice area is one of BCG's largest practice areas.

We serve ten broad topics:

Program Management & Implementation, Cost & Efficiency, Lean Manufacturing, Lean Services, Procurement, Operational Transformation, Customer Service OPS, Supply Chain Management & Logistics, Research & Development, and Large Capital Project Management.

We help companies think beyond the limits of their traditional business models, choose where and how they should add value, and reorganise to defend themselves against new threats and seize new opportunities.

The Operations practice provides the capabilities and the experts to help our clients create competitive advantage by enhancing their performance and enabling them on their journey to operational excellence.


What You'll Do:


As an Expert Consultant within BCG's Operations Practice, you will work alongside some of the world's top minds in industry-shaping performance improvement in diverse assets.

You will collaborate on challenging projects with team members from many backgrounds, advising BCG's mining clients on a variety of topics, including:

  • Current and potential asset performance, including cost and production uplift
  • Growth and sustaining capital allocation and optimisation
  • Reliability and safety improvement
  • Application of digital and technology


You will contribute to client cases, workshops and proposals spending much of your time on-site during staffing assignments to both identify and deliver impact and change.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Bring highquality expertise to the Performance Improvement topic that delivers value to client organisations in the mining sector.
  • Execute client work in a case team either as an advisor or individual contributor
  • Proactively pursue knowledge of cuttingedge research, technologies, and methodologies
  • Support presentation of key findings and recommendations to Clevel executives
  • Contribute to proposals together with the senior leadership of the OPS Practice
  • Build awareness for BCG's Lean Performance Improvement competence in the mining communities.
  • Contribute to performance improvement intellectual property: conduct primary research, develop and refine ideas, methodologies and tools, design learning material, capture credentials and best practice

Our Expert Consulting Track (ECT):

  • The Expert Consulting Track (ECT) is vital to BCG's ability to successfully meet our clients' demand for deep expertise and advanced technical capabilities. Experts deliver nextlevel impact for BCG's most complex and cuttingedge client challenges. Experts focus on developing BCG's thought leadership, commercial capabilities, and intellectual property assets; and their work is essential to our delivery model. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to bring the 'best of BCG' to our clients, Experts come from diverse backgrounds, with expertise often gained outside of BCG in industry, academia, or specialized consulting.

What You'll Bring (Experience & Qualifications):

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant consulting experience or experience gained in mining operations at a market leading company and/or an MBA.
  • Passion for complex problem solving.
  • Expertise in multiple elements of performance improvement, e.g., cost reduction, production uplift, capital deployment, safety and reliability; specifically with mining experience
  • A track record of driving and delivering highvalue work, (e.g., owning the process, content and daytoday client or team interactions)
  • An ability to think creatively, be adaptable and curious
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree with an outstanding academic performance from a top tier university

YOU'LL BE BASED IN
Ideally Perth or Melbourne or Sydney.

Travel is expected and will vary based on project needs.
