What you'll be doing


You will complete a Certificate III in Horticulture - Sports Turf Management over 48 months through a combination of formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and practical on-the-job experience with the Host Employer.

Throughout your formal training and practical experience in the workplace, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Support ongoing maintenance, preparation and mowing of sports ground
  • Carry out ongoing maintenance, preparation and construction of park surrounds
  • Use of various garden tools, both power and hand tools, including push and rideon lawn mowers
  • Operate horticultural equipment such as spray applicators, cylinder rollers and brush cutters
  • Assist qualified tradespeople to complete business operatoins
  • Carry out duties within the skills, competencies and ability of an apprentice

To be successful in this role, you'll need to meet the following selection criteria:

  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Commitment to both on and off the job training
  • A cando attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work safely and follow instructions
  • Demonstrated interest and passion for the Horticultural trade
  • Ability to carry out manual handling duties and outdoor work
  • Strong communication skills
  • WWCC or willingness to obtain
