At Australian Unity we are going through an exciting phase of innovative change with the commissioning of a brand-new Aged Care Precinct opening its doors in beautiful South Melbourne in May 2023.


Currently home to The Grace Retirement Community, which comprises 79 residences, The Alba Aged Care Suites (95 beds) and Easy Living Apartments (60 apartments) will provide customers with a continuum of options from independence through to clinical care and memory support.

It will offer state-of-the-art facilities within a light filled interior, on-site café, private dining facilities, hair and beauty spa, and gym along with many other activities in the Albert Park Lake area.


The Alba Aged Care Suites is scheduled to open on the 1st May 2023, and we are looking for our new staff to join us in mid-April 2023.

Your New Role
As a
Maintenance Team Leader, you will be responsible for ensuring the general maintenance and upkeep of the residential living and shared spaces at
The Albert Park Lake Precinct
We are not only focused on providing exceptional care to our residents but to provide a safe, secure, friendly, and supportive environment for our staff members

What does your new role look like?

  • Maintenance and repairs: Working within the grounds of the Albert Park Lake Precinct, this may include painting, lighting maintenance, gutters, air conditioning, tiling, basic plumbing, and other general repairs
  • Overseeing and managing the Maintenance Work Schedule and staff delivering this program, including coaching and development team members
  • Planned and reactive maintenance: Completing all planned works as agreed whilst also repairing any immediate requirements that arise
  • Work alongside Australia Unity's preferred suppliers and contractors where relevant and ensuring all work carried out is within the planned budget and compliance requirements
  • Ensuring workplace health and safety regulations are adhered to, that areas are kept tidy, and you are an advocate for keeping team members and customers to be always safe

Does this sound like you?

  • A warm, compassionate, customer focused manner.
  • A relevant trade qualification or certificate would be highly regarded but is not mandatory.
  • Experience leading a Maintenance Works program and the associated staff and services.
  • Demonstrated experience around ensuring workplace health and safety standards are established and maintained.
  • Excellent communication skills and able to develop effective relationships with residents, whilst managing repairs and maintenance work with mínimal disruption to their homes and lives
  • A driver's licence and access to a reliable car
  • Fully vaccinated for COVID 19, including the Booster and Influenza
