The Department

Position Objective
The Rural Lands Administration Officer is responsible for high level effective and efficient business
and customer support across rural lands.

As a representative of Council, demonstrated professionalism and a commitment to a high level of
service and continuous improvement in the best interest of Council and the Community are
essential.

Key Responsibilities

_Governance _:

  • Assist in conjunction with supervisor to develop and implement operational and business
- plans to achieve section goals
  • Development of, and delivering training on policies and processes across Council covering

- section responsibilities
  • Coordinate and resolve service requests within acceptable timeframes as determined by

- supervisor
  • Develop, implement and report on monitoring and evaluation of section programs and

- projects
  • Develop, review and implement policies and procedures applicable to section activities
- which are compliant to legislation and best practice
  • Develop and maintain current asset registers compliant to financial requirements of Council

_Stakeholder Engagement _:

  • Develop effective relations with stakeholders, both internal and external ensuring positive

- reflection on Council
  • Actively promote section and Council by participating in forums and meetings to raise
awareness of Council services, enhance networking across Flinders Shire while addressing
community concerns

_Business Support _:

  • Provide business support to supervisor including drafting agenda, minutes, facilities,
- newsletters, public notices, correspondence and record management
  • Act as first point of contact to members of the public regarding rural lands through answering
courteous manner

  • Maintain and manage registers and financial systems as relevant to section including stock
route reimbursement, mapping through QGIS, statistics on saleyard usage and entering dip
and weigh figures, yard fees provided for invoicing

  • Complete and submit returns applicable to section including water agreement renewals,
negotiations and agreements, gravel and sand returns, quarry licencing

  • Administer Good Neighbour Program activities across Flinders Shire covering evaluating
and reporting systems of progress and outcomes, coordinating community events, liaise with
landholders and other external clients and assist in map development and management
plans with Rural Lands Officer

  • Complete tender, quotation and advertising documents as required for section
- funding claims

  • Ensure that requests are acted on, and reported upon in accordance with Council Policy
  • Keep your direct report, or other/s appropriately and adequately informed on the current
state of activities relevant to your role and to highlight in advance any points likely to
influence Council operations or relations with ratepayers and/or the public

  • Maintain a personal time management system to ensure deadlines are met; to ensure that
other staff of the Council are given due notice and time to comply with deadlines so that their
own personal planning is not inconvenienced
