Position Summary :
About the ROLE
Scott Smith Orthodontics provides exceptional orthodontic care for our patients. We are currently searching for a part time Dental Assistant to work 3-4 days (depending on your availability) in our Launceston Practice. The Dental Assistant ensures appointments run smoothly, assists the Orthodontist or Dental Hygienist and prepares the chairside area ready for care delivery. Some reception duties and lab work may also form part of the role

About YOU
- Ideally you will have experience working in the Dental Industry (previous orthodontics experience is advantageous)
- Strong attention to detail, highly organised, efficient and ability to work autonomously
- Ability to consistently provide outstanding customer service
- Immaculate presentation, friendly demeanour, and empathetic nature
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs
- Experience in using Dolphin or other dental practice management software is a bonus

Key Requirements :
- Proven experience as dental assistant (desirable)
- Knowledge of dental and orthodontic instruments and sterilization methods (desirable)
- Understanding of health & safety regulations
- Good computer skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Attention to detail
- Well-organised and reliable
Job Responsibility :
- Welcome customers in the Practice
- Prepare customers for treatments or checkups ensuring their comfort
- Select and set up instruments, equipment and material needed
- Sterilise instruments according to regulations
- Assist the Orthodontist in seeing/treating patients
- Undertake lab tasks as instructed
- Provide oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions
- Keep the dental room clean and well-stocked
- Schedule appointments
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with payment procedures
- Use software and equipment provided in line with company processes
