The opportunity:
Are you passionate about supporting ground-breaking research and making a difference in the medical and health fields? We are seeking 2 talented Research Grants Officers to become key members of the MCRI Grants Office, where they will play a crucial role in empowering our researchers to secure funding for their innovative projects.
We have 2 roles available:
Position one is dedicated to empowering researchers in crafting high-quality grant proposals for various national and international research funding schemes.
Under the guidance of our Head of Research Grants, you'll be involved in both pre
- and post-award administration of research grants. From the prestigious National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) to the forward-looking Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) and beyond, your work will play a vital role in advancing medical research on a global scale.
Your responsibilities include:
Work with MCRI researchers at all levels to provide high quality support for the institute's participation and success with major external grants through effective promotion and efficient and coordination of competitive funding opportunities
Provide post-award management for funding including the preparation, coordination and review of grant and research agreements, grant finances, institute's compliance with funders' policies and procedures, coordination of reporting and monitoring compliance with ethics requirements and other milestones.
This will involve effectively working with other MCRI support functions such as Commercialisation, Legal, People and Culture, Finance, Payroll and Student AdministrationPlay a role in the coordination and ongoing support of MCRI Internal Grant schemes
About you:
Undergraduate qualification in health/science/biomedical research or demonstrated equivalent combination of education and health and medical research grant management experience
Experience working with processes related to government grants (e.g., NHMRC, MRFF etc.) and other national and international grants (e.g., philanthropic, industry etc)
Exceptional written communication and editing skills, particularly in the context of scientific/medical writing
Excellent ability to communicate verbally, including comfort with public speaking and liaising with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
