The Role
We are seeking an EL1 Assistant Director to join the team within a Federal Government Agency. This is a 12-month assignment based in Geelong or Richmond.


The role will work within the Economic and Pricing Team and will contribute to the Annual Pricing Review to assess whether the price control framework is still appropriate.

This position is a team leadership role with up to 5 direct reports.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Sound decision making taking into account the data, public submissions, working group consultations to inform policy development.
  • Liaise effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex, technical and sensitive issues verbally and in writing to a range of audiences.
  • Adapt quickly to a changing environment and make decisions based on limited data, often navigating through ambiguity.
  • Project management oversight for the development of key projects with internal and external stakeholders.

To be considered for this role you will demonstrate:

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesise information and make evidence-based decisions
  • Highly developed strategic thinking including vision, perception, and evaluation skills
  • Leadership and management of work priorities and ability to contribute to a positive work culture.
  • Having writing experience in Government Agencies would be advantageous.
