About the Opportunity


FVREE is a child focused and recently certified Child Safe Organisation that is committed to promoting and protecting the safety and interests of all children and young people.

FVREE recognises children and young people as victim survivors of family violence in their own right and is implementing changes to ensure each child and young person receives a holistic service response that addresses their individual risk, safety and recovery needs.


The Children and Young Person's Practice Lead is a practice leadership position that will champion the rights of children and young people within the organisation and deliver evidence-informed best practice guidance and support to FVREE services staff, this will focus on effectively engaging the adult victim survivor around their individual children and young people's experience of family violence to ensure their needs are at the centre of the service response.


The role will proactively contribute to the future expansion of child-focused services at FVREE and lead ongoing capability building within the organisation.


We Are Looking For Someone Who:

  • Operate with autonomy and accountability in leading Children and Young Person's best practice.
  • Speak to their understanding of the determinants of family violence and intersectionality; the nuanced risks and perpetrator tactics specific to children and young people; and the short term and longterm impacts this can have on children and young people.
  • Share their knowledge and expertise around childhood development, attachment and trauma theories.
  • Share their knowledge of systems relevant to children and young people, including existing services and referral pathways and the law and legal system.
  • Think strategically and analytically you can see the big picture, connect the dots, and think outside the box
  • Lead and/or contribute to innovative program development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrate understanding and respect of the Child Safe Standards and child safety principals including the safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, children from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds as well as children who identify as LGBTI as well as children with a disability.

Ideally, you will also have:

  • A relevant tertiary degree such as Social Work
  • Significant practice experience in providing services for victim survivors of family violence, specifically including direct practice with children and young people. This can include therapeutic service delivery experience.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement, including ability to work collaboratively both internally and externally.
