Role Introduction

We are looking for an Engineering Manager for our team in Sydney.


This permanent full-time role reports to the Regional Head of Engineering, Southwest Pacific and will be responsible for the development and management of direct reports.

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for all Sydney Engineering station operations, including managing routine and nonroutine line maintenance for Cathay Group and third party customer aircraft in accordance with company and customer requirements.
  • Provide administration support and assist the Regional Head of Engineering to manage and oversee third party supplier performance (technical, ramp services, deicing, refueling etc) as the Operational Duty Holder.
  • Ensure that Cathay and third party supplier's labour (including the controlled third party mechanics) are trained, qualified and authorised on all aircraft types operating at the station.
  • Manage and execute contingency plans to support ad hoc operational requirements such as diversions, charters, ad hoc aircraft type changes, major disruption recovery etc.
  • Build a strong and motivated team, ensuring the right people are in place to foster positive team spirit and facilitate teamwork
  • Demonstrate leadership and lead by example in accordance with Cathay's core values.
  • Actively engage with employees to enhance communication and their understanding of department goals.
  • Enhance the employee experience in line with the role level and the internal brand promise.
  • Be accountable for compliance with local Occupational Health & Safety standards and regulations / guidelines.
  • Review and implement local strategies to achieve effective, optimum planning and utilisation of station resources including people, equipment, facilities and aircraft spares.
  • Be accountable and responsible for meeting station productivity, costs, revenue and operating budget targets.

Requirements:

  • HKAR66 B1 or B2 license, or any equivalent license acceptable in HKAR
  • Minimum of 2 current aircraft type authorisations, preferably on the type operated by Cathay and level 3 trained
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in an aircraft maintenance environment
  • Minimum 5 years' practical experience working in a Engineering management role
  • Knowledge of, or experience in, the airline industry is a distinct advantage
  • Demonstrable operational knowledge of aircraft maintenance and ground handling activities
  • Working knowledge of Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department airworthiness regulations
  • Demonstrable ability in management and understanding of business change process
  • Ability to motivate and create a positive, productive work environment fostering high performance teamwork
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent level of PC literacy in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Positive, cando attitude and are a real team player
