At Spinal Life Australia, we aim to support people with spinal cord damage to live an accessible, equitable and empowered life, as a leader in specialist services and a pioneer in everything we do.

We are currently seeking an experienced support worker with strong administration skills for a permanent part time opportunity in Perth (approx. 50 hours per fortnight).

Our opportunity:

Our Key Support Workers will be providing on-the-job training across a range of activities such as, cooking, to activities of daily living including
- personal hygiene, dressing, eating and drinking, mobility, bladder and bowel support.

You will be proving this training to new PSW's joining one of our client's team. This is to prepare them for working with our clients independently.

Our Key Workers may work with one or several of our clients and they will also provide on-going support, coaching and be mentors to small teams of PSW's across these clients.

You will be required to provide administration assistance to our Client Service Officer by monitoring clients' needs, updating care plans, completing OSH assessments and any other administration tasks as requested.


You will assist our Rostering team with shift fill, through attending the shift as a backup personal support worker and/or assisting with sourcing an appropriate personal support workers for client supports.


As part of the Key support worker role, travel is a large component of your role, meeting with clients and personal support workers on a regular basis.


Our Key Support Workers and PSW's will work as a team to always maintain high service standards and a positive team dynamic.


Key responsibilities will also include:

  • Deliver quality services that are consistent with the Human Services Quality Standards and the principles and service philosophy of, Spinal Life Australia.
  • Read, understand, action and review Individual Support Plans (ISPs), Resident Hazard Inspections (RHIs) and take direction from the Client Service Officer (CSO).
  • Contribute to the completion of annual performance appraisals for Personal Support Workers in consultation with clients and CSO and address any performance shortfalls.
  • Completes OntheJob Training Checklists for new PSWs joining the team
  • Utilises computer and smart phone technology to upload all support and training documentation to client and PSW Carelink files in a timely manner

To be a successful in the role, you will need:

  • Previous experience being a Support Worker
  • Strong administration
  • Emotionally aware, resilient and responsive
  • Genuine, reliable workers with inherent integrity and respect for individual choice and client confidentiality
  • Have a current driver licence and access to a vehicle
  • Own a smartphone (willingness to download our MDM system)
  • Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module (receive a certificate on completion)
  • A current Covid 19 Certificate of Vaccination as per WA Government requirements for workers in a healthcare setting.
  • Be capable of doing a physically demanding role you'll be lifting, bending, carrying, crouching, driving and working in restricted spaces such as shower stalls, bathrooms, and other parts of clients' homes.
