Increased scale and international complexity plus corporate development initiatives on the horizon have created the opportunity for a topflight Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their leadership team in 2024.The shareholders of the business are highly entrepreneurial and have added independent NED expertise to their Board in recent years. The CFO role has primary responsibility for being a commercial business partner to the leadership team and helping them to deliver their business plans in each of their chosen global markets by customer segment. The CFO will report into the CEO, and work extensively with the senior leadership team based in Melbourne. The business occupies A-grade Collins Street office space for 180 staff and includes onsite parking for this role. The CFO is expected to work from the corporate office as their primary workplace.

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for overseeing the commercial operations and financial reporting requirements of the head company and related entities, whilst ensuring the organisation is adequately prepared for the scale required to achieve their strategic objectives. By providing informed commercial and strategic insights to the CEO and Board, key financial metrics will be achieved and operating risks will be well managed. The CFO oversees a global finance team of 28 people across financial control, FP&A and transactional accounting portfolios. This role is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership, managing financial risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, enhancing commercial capabilities, and driving operational efficiencies across the global team.

In order to be considered for the role, we are targeting the following attributes in the successful candidate:

  • A Commerce/Accounting degree and full & current membership of CAANZ or CPA Australia.
  • MBA or GAICD qualifications highly regarded.
  • Minimum of 15+ years experience in senior finance functions, with financial services experience preferred.
  • A strong people leader, with a track record of structuring high performing finance teams and inspiring staff towards personal and professional growth KPIs.
  • Strong understanding of key business functions including technology, trading, risk, new product development, market expansion and corporate development.
  • Capital markets and M&A experience, including competence with investor relations and management of institutional investment processes.
  • Commercial and strategic leadership experience within entrepreneurial enterprises that have experienced growth and operated globally.
  • Sound understanding of financial markets, excellent analytical skills and experience managing both financial control and FP&A functions.
  • The highest standards of professionalism, integrity and ethics pursuant to the responsibilities of working in a highly regulated industry.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with an ability to develop and build rapport instantly with stakeholders and be a persuasive influencer.
  • Proficient in financial software and systems, including trading platforms, ERP systems, SQL & BI tools.
