Principal Data Modeller


In this role, you'll be at the heart of our data ecosystem, creating the foundation that empowers data professionals to unlock valuable insights.

Your role is to ensure that data is not just well-organised and structured, but also a pleasure to work with, fuelling better decision-making throughout RACQ.


You'll be an integral part of the team, collaborating closely with the Manager of Data Modelling to keep things running smoothly and providing valuable guidance and mentorship to our Data Modellers.


Please note this position is a hybrid role that works from our Eight Mile Plains office and report into Manager of Data Modelling.


Key responsibilities include;

  • Work in partnership with RACQ business areas to identify opportunities to leverage data to support the business in meeting its key performance objectives.
  • Maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
  • Collaborate with Data Engineers to transform raw data into foundational datasets.
  • Enable business areas to undertake operational reporting through appropriate platforms.
  • Design data models and database structures to ensure efficient storage and retrieval of data while maintaining data integrity and scalability.
  • Clean, enrich, and transform raw data into a consistent and usable format for analysis.
  • Integrate data from different systems and sources to create a unified and comprehensive view of RACQ's data.

About you;

  • High level of knowledge of computer science disciplines and practices that support productiongrade analytics solutions
  • Experience developing conformed data models / marts to promote standardisation and reuse across the enterprise
  • Expert proficiency in SQL & one or more of the following: Python, Cognos, and Tableau
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Welldeveloped project management and internal consulting skills
  • High level communication and negotiation skills
  • Problem solving and decisionmaking skills, particularly with respect to the development and implementation of complex analytics solutions and technical architecture
