The Metro Tunnel Project (MTP) is a transformational public transport project that will bring more trains to your suburb and reduce travel times by running the busy Cranbourne, Pakenham and Sunbury lines through a new tunnel.

By untangling the City Loop, more trains can run more often across Melbourne.


We've finished digging twin 9km tunnels, and construction is underway on 5 new stations and testing of the new High Capacity Signalling system that will enable turn-up-and-go services.


The Occupations Coordinator exists to support the Occupations team with the effective planning and implementation of critical works on the rail corridor.


We are seeking an experience Occupations Coordinator to facilitate access within the Rail Infrastructure for planned occupations on the network.

You'll manage and ensure that all Metro standards, policies and procedures are in place to adhere to safe working practices for all employees, the public and contractors.

This is a full-time contract until Sept 2024. As an MTM employee, you will have access to free travel along the network.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Developing and implementing Occupation Management Processes whilst ensuring timely bookings, safety and efficiency in utilisation of all track occupations by working closely with all relevant stakeholders
  • Working closely with other teams to ensure all Occupations are tracked, published correctly and distributed to meet the requirements to undertake planned works
  • Work in conjunction with Rail Safety Manager to ensure all associated safe working is requested and coordinated for each occupation.
  • Produce Occupation coordination documents/dashboards and reports and drive continuous improvement within the occupation management to streamline a standardised process
  • Manage access permits and coordinate the requirements for all required occupations which can include Overhead, Signalling, Substation and Track personnel, as well as all other relevant compliance personnel.
  • Drive continuous improvement for occupation management processes with a focus on optimisation of the network and streamline
  • Work closely with other teams to ensure relevant construction activities are tracked, published correctly, and distributed effectively to meet the requirements necessary to undertake planned works.
About You

  • Communicates with influence to negotiate key outcomes whilst maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders
  • Has experience within the rail industry and operations, ideally involving occupation planning
  • Working knowledge of Metro, its Operations and stakeholders
  • Ability to identify and analyse risks, and make corrective actions
  • Ability to collect, analyse and present workplace data and information
  • Experience in contemporary project management methodologies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Full valid Driver's License
  • Willingness to learn and participate in site meetings during construction activities
  • Willingness to work Weekend & possible night shifts during Occupations
