About Your Opportunity

As the Supervisor Fire Management, you will facilitate the planning, approval, coordination, implementation and audit review of fire management plans for Seqwater's Regions. You will ensure the sustainable management of Seqwater's land and catchments consistent with current best practice fire and land management principals and guidelines and aligned with Seqwater corporate objectives.

Key responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the development, review and management of fire management plans in accordance with Seqwater's fire management strategy.
  • Provide tactical advice, medium term (12 to 24 month) planning to enable regions to deliver on objectives guided by fire management strategy and plans.
  • Provide specialist input into strategic planning documents.
  • Develop annual Fire Management Plans, Fire Trail Work Programs and Annual Burn Program.
  • Monitor the progress and effectiveness of fire management activities, assign resources and provide specialist support to regions.
  • Perform highly complex fire management activities (e.g. high risk or complex burns).
  • Represent Seqwater at interagency Fire Management meetings to negotiate, agree, and coordinate fire management planning across South East Queensland Water Operational Area.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Essentials

  • Qualifications in Protected Area Management or other related equivalent qualification.
  • Strong demonstrated experience in land management and fire management and mitigation relevant to catchments and natural areas.
  • Fire Fighting (level 1 and 2).
  • Unrestricted Driver's Licence for a motor vehicle.
  • Demonstrated experience on the preparation and implementation of fire management plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing controlled and uncontrolled fires.
  • Ability to develop and implement programmed/scheduled maintenance programs.

Desirables

  • Senior First Aid Certificate.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contracted labour and services.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry best practice fire management systems and processes.
  • Knowledge, or ability to quickly acquire knowledge, of computerised mapping systems.

This position has a salary starting at $118,579 to $129,013 dependant on experience plus 12.75% superannuation and is a Permanent fulltime role.
