Reporting to the Associate Director - Franchisee Readiness, this role will have direct interfaces with key groups such as MTM, and V/line while working across multiple areas of DTP. To be successful, you will need to be a lateral thinker with strong conceptual skills. Whilst underpinned by strong project management skills, the complexity of the issues being addressed require a thorough and probing approach - things are not always as they seem Project management is the underlying discipline, but problem solving and communication is a core aspect of this role.

Interdependent programs of work will cross civil and systems related projects, in addition to contract and labour related activities. The role will need to work through conflicting and different perspectives so the building of effective working relationships is critical.

The position is the central point of contact for program management of Metro Tunnel operational readiness activities. You will manage schedule and interface risks and issues on behalf of the Associate Director - Franchise Readiness and will provide effective reporting to senior management on the status of readiness initiatives needed to support all aspects of our ambitious program.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities


•Project Delivery - The Project Manager has contributed to the successful delivery of concurrent mobilisation and construction projects, including diligent management of scope, schedule, and interfaces.


•Risk Mitigation and Issue Resolution - The Project Manager - has been adept at identifying and managing risks throughout the project lifecycle. The incumbent has successfully mitigated risks and resolved issues that arise during the project and operational readiness activities.


•Continuous Improvement - The Project Manager has demonstrated an effective application of continuous improvement, identifying areas for improvement across a progressive program of works, enhancing team performance, project and operational readiness outcomes


•Stakeholder Management - The Project Manager has effectively established relationships across the Department, the Franchisee, Big Build delivery partners and other internal/external stakeholders. They have built mutually beneficial partnerships and understand the stakeholder's organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved.


•Quality Reporting - The Project Manager has produced timely and accurate reporting on the status of the Franchisee's readiness activities, assessing impacts for interdepartmental and network interfaces.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in the role the ideal candidate will excel in translating strategic goals into effective programs and projects, defining governance structures to manage risks and ensure successful outcomes. They will be adept at setting clear success measures, roles, and responsibilities, and monitoring progress meticulously.

Exceptional interpersonal skills are a must, as the candidate will need to understand and address underlying concerns and emotions, presenting themselves genuinely and sincerely. They will leverage their understanding of individuals to achieve the best outcomes for both the person and the organization, projecting an objective view of others' positions.

Proficient in stakeholder management, the candidate will build mutually beneficial partnerships by identifying common issues and responding to stakeholders' underlying needs. They will use their understanding of organizational contexts to ensure successful outcomes.

Additionally, they will apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills effectively, understanding the political and organizational pressures to which our department must respond.

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory


•Track record of successfully delivering complex projects across the project lifecycle


•Sound knowledge of project management principles and best practices

Desirable


•Tertiary Qualification in Project Management or other relevant disciplines
