About the Role
The Head of Marketing and Communications is responsible for leading the marketing and communications team at the Smart Energy Council. This role involves overseeing advocacy campaigns, event promotions, member engagement, and various other activities.
Leading a small, agile team, the Head ensures that the council's messages effectively reach the target audiences and achieve tangible results. Additionally, the role plays a key part in driving organizational growth and identifying new opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integrated marketing and communication strategies
  • Oversee the tactical execution of marketing campaigns
  • Develop and execute external relations and brand strategy
  • Lead digital strategies and guidelines
  • Collaborate with the advocacy team for effective campaigns
  • Provide marketing expertise and support across the organization
  • Manage web presence and content for marketing campaigns
Requirements and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing or a related field
  • 5-10 years' experience in social media marketing or content development
  • Proven experience in managing a branding, marketing, and communications team
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and networking skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Positive and professional work approach
  • High emotional intelligence, empathy, and leadership skills
Digital Literacy:
Experience with tools like Active Campaign, Hubspot, WordPress, Canva, G-Suite, and Adobe packages is highly valued.
Key Relationships
Position reports to the COO.
Direct Reports: the Media Manager, Events Marketing and Communications Manager, Digital Marketing Coordinator, Marketing Data Analyst
Internal contacts: CEO, COO, External Affairs Manager, Events Manager, Sales, and Membership team
External contacts: contractors and freelancers
