Join the City of Hobart team and contribute to the prosperity of our Community Opportunity to lead and influence change to make a real impact Participate in a Leadership Program with ongoing career development and training About the role This role is responsible for identifying and implementing commercial strategies to ensure the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre is high performing, maximising profitability and meeting customer and community expectations.

The role will collaborate with the Director in the strategic direction, development, and implementation of a range of projects and activities including the planned redevelopment of the Centre

Role accountabilities include:
Foster an organisational culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
Prioritise positive and proactive communication with the community.
Assist in managing human, physical, financial, and information resources effectively.
Develop and empower staff while establishing clear performance indicators.
Oversee staff performance and implement improvements in service quality and efficiency.
Manage contracts and contractors efficiently.
Contribute to strategic and operational planning, budget management, and asset maintenance.
Ensure the center's facilities are clean, safe, and attractive.
Adhere to health and safety regulations and implement risk management practices.
Provide qualified advice to the council regarding DKHAC matters.
Ensure timely and within-budget delivery of projects and compliance with relevant legislation and standards.

The ideal candidate for this position should possess a bachelor's degree or higher in Recreational Management, Sport & Leisure, Community, or a business management related field.

They should have demonstrated relevant experience in managing major aquatic, fitness centers, or sports facilities at a national standard, along with a comprehensive understanding of market drivers, industry and customer trends across aquatic and fitness businesses to ensure the facility is competitive, profitable and high performing asset that delivers best value.

The ideal candidate should also have experience in developing and implementing strategic and operational plans and programs, as well as advanced project management skills.

Additionally, they should exhibit knowledge of risk management and working within a quality assurance framework, along with a solid understanding of Work Health and Safety legislation.
