Position Information:
New Lambton South Public School (NLSPS) is a New South Wales Department of school in Newcastle.
with a population of approximately 452 students in % of the student population comes from families in the top 2 quartiles for Index of Community Socio Educational Advantage whilst only 8% of the student population comes from the lowest quartile.
In addition to this, 2% of students identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and 13% identify as a student with a background language other than English.
(ACARA). Teaching staff at the school have a range of experiences.The school has built a signature pedagogy based in socio-constructivist methodology implementing evidence based programs in literacy and numeracy which has resulted in outstanding growth for students.
The school has some unique characteristics including a large Out of School Hours (OOSH) care facility that caters for over 200 students each morning and afternoon.
A Regional Opportunity Class for students identified as high potential or Gifted and Talented. The school also embraces a curriculum built on fostering core capabilities in students. Furthermore the school houses three Multi-Categorical (MC) classes.Selection Criteria:

Approval to teach special education and/or experience in leading a school-wide culture that values and promotes inclusion and equity for students with disability.
Demonstrated expertise and proven successful experience in supporting students with disability, which may include relevant tertiary qualifications in inclusion or special education.
Demonstrated ability to develop staff capacity to promote learning and wellbeing growth for students with disability through evidence-informed practices and fostering a culture of support for all students.
Demonstrated ability to foster positive relationships with students, their families, staff and allied health professionals to collaborate on reasonable adjustments, including implementing, monitoring and adjusting content, to maximise learning and wellbeing outcomes for students with disability.
General Selection Criteria:
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
