About the role:


The Security, Information and Privacy Division (SIPD) is responsible for the strategic direction, governance of processes, provision of advice, stewardship and promotion of protective and cyber security, privacy, information management and records management.

This role will be working in a professional, highly dynamic and established team of security professionals and will be regularly exposed to the various disciplines that Victoria Police operates in.

Victoria Police is a contemporary and agile workplace and supports flexible working arrangements.

Your duties will include:

  • Ensure the ongoing security of the product offerings.
  • Provide secure coding development advice and continuous improvement capabilities to the product & development teams.
  • Ensure appropriate security controls and processes such as code reviews, threat modelling and security testing are seamlessly embedded into the development processes.
  • Create and maintain documentation to support the development of secure software.
  • Collaborate in an agile environment with cyber security and development teams.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders to scope, manage and remediate penetration testing assessments.
  • Own and enforce secure development policies amongst the development teams.
  • Assess and ensure the deliverables of security hardened code.
  • Contribute to various security projects and assist the Information and Cyber Security teams in delivering the cyber security roadmap.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Experience and/or background in software development
  • ideally.
Net or VB6, but can be Java etc.

  • Indepth knowledge of common software security vulnerabilities and how to prevent them (e.g. CWE, OWASP etc.)
  • Experience leading the delivery of projects endtoend
  • Ability to influence and negotiate, with strong communication skills and a collaborative manner
  • Tertiary Degree in IT or relevant discipline
  • Industry Certifications, such as CSSLP etc

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x 3year Fixed term opportunity.
  • This position is located at Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo National Security Vetting, achieve and maintain a security classification as determined by the Department Head. To achieve this, applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
