This is a Designated Aboriginal Position.

The position will oversee the delivery of the four Landcare for Country Pilot programs, including managing funding agreements, monitoring and supporting delivery and coordinating reporting and knowledge sharing between pilot programs.

The aim of the Landcare for Country Pilot is to test different approaches for how Traditional Owner and First Nations communities can partner with Landcare in the work they want do to care for Country.

The Pilot will support Aboriginal employment, skills and capacity and deliver caring for Country projects and activities that align with and support Traditional Owner and First Nations aspirations and priorities.

The position will use the learnings from the Landcare for Country Pilot to develop advice, case studies and guidance material for all Landcare and environmental volunteering groups to support their cultural competency and help them engage and work with Traditional Owners and First Nations communities.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal communities and engaging community organisations to deliver projects is essential.
  • Current driver's licence is required.
  • At least three years' relevant experience is desirable.
  • An appropriate qualification in science, natural resource management or an approved equivalent is desirable but not essential.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Commonwealth and State legislation and obligations in relation to Aboriginal cultural heritage and engagement with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal communities.
This is a fixed term position available for a period of 3 years. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
