The role will drive the objectives of Football Australia's new and bold 15-year vision embodied by the XI Principles for the future of Australian football ('XI Principles'), in particular: Principle V – to create a world class environment for youth development / production by increasing match minutes for youth National Team players and streamlining the player pathway Principle X – to accelerate and enhance the growth of the game by driving participation of women and girls and enhancing existing competition structures to promote player development.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Manage Football Data - Investigate how we can store, interpret and visualize football data that we collect internally and are provided to us from third parties.

Responsible for the integration of all national team data, including technical information collated by national team analysts and performance data collected by Sports Science and Sports Medicine (SSSM) staff, by developing the necessary data flows, analysis tools and visualisations.

Create and maintain dashboards, reports and data output as required by National Team Analysts and coaches for player / team & programme analysis.

Establish and develop a National Teams Depth Chart which provides an overview of match minutes and performance data of Australian eligible national team players.

Support the Sports Science & Sports Medicine department in data analysis projects (e.g., player availability analysis across teams, exercise testing results within pathways).

Lead the process for the appointment of National Team Analysts, including onboarding and training responsibilities.

Collaboratively work with Senior National Team Analyst(s) to develop scouting network and scouting plan in preparation for and during major tournaments, including management of scouting process Communicate with Technical team's analysists on projects and research that provides insights on Talent ID.

Managing data projects and key stakeholders to those projects (Ph D students, interns or team analysts).

Maintain Third Party Performance Analysis Relationships – act as first point of contact and negotiate agreements with third party companies such as (Hudl, OPTA, t OG, FIFA, etc).

High level of tactical football knowledge.
Experience working with collection, pre-processing, cleaning, analysis and visualization of football datasets.
Experience with either Python or R.
Experience working with data visualization tools (e.g., Shiny or Tableau).
Experience with database management language (e.g.
SQL).

Understanding of the global football data analysis insights and trends Experience of pre and post-match analysis in a professional sport environment (football preferred).

Experience of providing live matchday analysis.
Experience with a variety of video capture, coding, telestration and presentation software (particularly Sports Code, t OG/Paint/Piero, Keynote).
