Employee Relations Specialist

About the Role
Reporting to our Head of Employee Relations, you'll support the delivery of our employee relations strategy and continue to ensure that all employee issues are managed in a fair and equitable manner.
We'll need you to provide strategic and operational ER/IR leadership and we'll certainly lean on your expertise regarding legislation, policies, and procedures.
You'll be working closely with some great internal teams including workplace support, people and culture business partners and our business unit leaders across the enterprise.
Some of the key responsibilities for this role include:
- Negotiate with and influence senior management, staff and external stakeholders towards best practice employment relations practice and solutions.
- Provide written and oral advice to management regarding key policy, employment legislation issues and emerging employment relations trends.
- Effectively lead and/or manage investigations or processes in response to discrimination, harassment & bullying complaints through endtoend case management.
- Provide advocacy, or lead support, for contested matters in the Fair Work Commission and Anti-Discrimination Tribunals.
- When required lead enterprise bargaining processes on behalf of the business
- Manage union relationships to minimise disputes and ensuring a stable industrial environment.
- Proactively review P&C policy and process and identify areas of improvement and develop and implement training to address any deficits.
About you
The BOQ group is going through a very exciting period of growth and transformation and that includes our employee relations space.
We are looking for an accomplished ER specialist in this instance, someone who can assist our Head of with senior stakeholder responsibilities whilst also providing guidance and support to the rest of the team.
Your stakeholder engagement and management skills will be one the main drivers for success in this role.You audience will be diverse, will have competing priorities and bring with them unique situations for you to work through.
We'll need you to demonstrate critical thinking, resilience and problem solving to achieve successful outcomes.Some of the other key experience we will be looking for includes:
- Private legal practice experience (non-essential)
- Banking and Finance experience (nonessential)
- Demonstrated understanding of contemporary industrial and employee relations including knowledge of the recent legislation amendments.
- Experience in preparing for, negotiating and appearing in person at the FWC and other Courts and Tribunals.
- Experience in preparing for, negotiating and obtaining approval of enterprise agreements
- Tertiary Qualification in Law, Industrial Relations or a related field.
- Experience in ER roles, developing and implementing strategy.
- Demonstrated ability to take a lead role in projects relating to ER (i.e. bargaining, wage annualisation, time and attendance)
