Requirements:


The Client is looking for a professional and enthusiastic Executive Officer to provide strategic advice, coordination, and high-level support to the First Assistant Commissioner (FAC), Chief Information Officer Division, including managing a diverse range of critical issues, services, and projects to support the achievement of their Enterprise Transformation Program's strategic, operational objectives.


  • Analysing and synthesising information from various internal and external sources to provide timely strategic advice to the FAC.
  • Proactively managing the workflow through the FACs office, including providing advice on context and quality assurance and coordinating any necessary followup to ensure priorities and deadlines are met.
  • Producing correspondence, briefings, and communication material on behalf of the FAC.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for the FACs office and responding appropriately to a range of routine, sensitive and urgent agency matters with ease.
  • Providing highlevel support to governance committees, meetings and forums chaired or convened by the FAC.
  • Making and communicating decisions using professional judgement in a complex and changing environment.
  • Attending meetings with the FAC and/or other members of the Transformation Program Leadership Team to assist with arising actions.
  • Developing and actively managing internal and external relationships, including collaborating with key stakeholders to achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation, representing the Transformation Program and the agency in various forums.

Skills and experience required for the role:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate information to people from different backgrounds and levels of seniority.
  • Experience preparing complex and/or sensitive correspondence, briefings, talking points, business plans, papers, and other written artefacts.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build productive relationships and communicate decisions using professional judgement.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience in managing quality assurance (writing, editing, proofreading) of high volumes of correspondence, briefs, and reports.
  • Experience in effectively managing competing priorities with the ability to manage upwards and provide strategic advice and support to Senior Executives.
  • A high degree of initiative, integrity and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Experience working in a Digital Transformation Program and/or a background in IT would be highly desirable.
  • Prior experience as an Executive Officer in the Australian Public Service would be highly desirable.

  • This is a Canberra, ACTbased role with no remote working option.
  • A competitive hourly rate based on skills, experience and fit for the role is available.
  • Baseline Security Clearance is a mínimal requirement, so you must possess it or have the ability to obtain it for the role.
