A rare opportunity exists for Strategic Communications Adviser role to join a newly formed team tasked with establishing the new Department of Government Services.

About us The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government.

We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses.

We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.

About the role The Strategic Communications Adviser will demonstrate analytical and communication skills, working with the DGS leadership and across the department, the Senior Communications Officer will lead communications and media strategies to support the commencement and implementation of DGS and work effectively in a team environment.


About you To be considered for the role, you must be able to:

  • Lead communications and media strategies and high-level advice to support the commencement and implementation of initiatives across DGS.
  • Develop highly professional communication materials for use across a range of channels, including websites, digital and multimedia, to ensure that stakeholders receive targeted, accurate and timely information.
  • Develop and produce advice, media responses, speaking points, briefs, correspondence, and publications

Other relevant information

The department is committed to providing and maintaining a working environment which is safe and without risk to the health of its employees and clients and consistent with the department's obligations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 (OHS Act).

To support this, DGS requires all DGS employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to undertake duties outside of their homes (unless an exception applies).

To be able to meet the COVID-19 mandatory vaccination requirements and for DGS to meet its obligations under the OHS Act, DGS will request employees provide their vaccination information (including 3rd dose / booster) or evidence of an exemption throughout the recruitment process.
