Assistant Project Officer

Location - Parramatta

Employment type - Ongoing Full-Time role

Salary - ($89,707 pa - $98,982 pa), plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role
An exciting opportunity exists to join our Policy and Practice branch.

This is a multi-disciplinary team with skills and backgrounds in projects, sector development, contract governance and management, outcomes measurement and reporting, and commissioning human services.


The Policy and Practice branch is responsible for building capability and expertise in the contracting of human services through advice, training, guidance material and policy development.


What you'll do


As part of the Capability and Practice team, you will support delivering a contract management framework that covers strategies for contracting, supporting structures, systems and processes that build organisational and sector capability to deliver the best approach to human services contracting.


You'll work with the team to contribute to and develop, strategies, practices, and resources that support the strengthening and improvement of DCJ and NGO contract management.

The Capability and Practice team are part of the Policy and Practice Branch who have responsibility for:

  • Providing advice regarding commissioning and contracting strategies, procuring for human services and developing and managing contracts for external stakeholders
  • Developing commissioning and contracting policy and guidance material, including processes and procedures for design and implementation of programs, with and for internal and external stakeholders, and preparing this for publication on the intranet and website
  • Development and maintenance of contract management framework resources, including publishing and dissemination
  • Maintaining a range of distribution channels for effective communication for internal and external stakeholders, including a newsletter, and fora as well as working groups with district staff, peaks and service providers
  • Developing policy and positions regarding how we work with the NGO sector, including on providing advice such as sector support and development and sector viability
  • Program management of the State Peaks Program.

To be successful in this role you must have a strong commitment to customer service and be able to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.

You will be a motivated individual with a proven ability to work autonomously to deliver solutions as well as working effectively in a team.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly.

You are looking for an opportunity to expand your skill set in contract administration or project management.

At times, this will require working to tight deadlines and prioritising effectively to manage competing demands to achieve positive outcomes.
