Appointment Pool

North Perth Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for appointments to permanent and fixed-term positions, both full-time and part-time, available throughout the 2024 school year and until the end of Term 2, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for positions starting within the specified period.

North Perth PS caters for children from Kindergarten to Year 6.

Suitable candidates should collaborate with teachers to create an inclusive and supportive environment, ideally working independently on tasks involving discretion, judgment, and initiative within defined parameters set by the teacher.

Experience with students with diverse special needs like Autism Spectrum Disorder, Diabetes, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, anxiety disorders, and trauma backgrounds is highly preferred. Familiarity with programs such as MiniLit, MacqLit, PLD, Talk 4 Writing, and social/emotional regulation programs is advantageous. Strong communication skills, maintaining records, and proficiency in information technology are also valued.

North Perth PS, an inner-city public school established in 1899, boasts a rich history and vibrant school community characterized by the energy and enthusiasm of its current students, staff, and parents.

To qualify for this role, candidates must demonstrate the following selection criteria:

  • Good written and oral communication skills to engage with students with special needs, parents, and educators in program delivery and support.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to contribute to the assessment of educational programs, especially in special education and therapy.
  • Effective organizational abilities to aid in program delivery, student feedback, and collaboration with educators and therapists.
  • Capability to support the implementation of educational programs, including special education and therapy.
  • Knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
  • Ability to contribute to students' general health and well-being.
