About the Role

The Department of Education, Western Australia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Education Assistant - Special Needs Lead to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of education programs and promoting positive student behavior.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, coach, and model good practices for other Education Assistants
  • Plan and deliver worksite induction and training for new Education Assistants
  • Assist in the performance management of Education Assistants, including conducting classroom observations and providing feedback
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of documented plans and provide solutions and support to teachers to promote positive student behavior and improved educational outcomes
Requirements
  • Demonstrated considerable knowledge and understanding of the delivery of education programs and/or behavior management plans
  • Ability to identify problems and assist teachers and other Education Assistants in the development of strategies and solutions
  • Well-developed oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to lead, mentor, coach, induct, and train other Education Assistants and professional teams
  • Well-developed written communication skills, including report writing, and the ability to coordinate, collect, and present student data at a whole school community level in a meaningful way
  • Well-developed organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate staff rosters and relief to assist in the delivery of effective education programs
