About the Position

POLICY BRANCH
This Branch provides advice on housing and policies to improve access to housing.

It develops and considers strategic policies for people experiencing homelessness, to secure housing by working closely with the other departments and sector stakeholders.

It is responsible for the development of housing plans and policies to improve Indigenous housing outcomes.

STRATEGY AND DATA BRANCH
The Strategy and Data Branch is responsible for developing initiatives and managing stakeholder relationships with state and territory governments.

Duties

  • Contribute to the planning, drafting and implementation of policies and objectives within a team.
  • Provide expert advice on socioeconomic areas of policy focusing on the delivery of the government's housing agenda.
  • Prepare draft reports, briefing papers, speeches, Ministerial correspondence and discussion papers on both routine and more complex matters.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with internal department and external APS stakeholders.

Requirements/Skills

  • Demonstrated experience in policy analysis and development and/or highly transferable and applicable experience.
  • Good relationship building skills with the ability to discuss, negotiate and persuade on policy and/or program matters with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills in order to identify and respond to opportunities, issues and risks in policy and/or programs.
  • Commitment and desire to building and maintaining a positive and collaborative team culture and sharing skills and knowledge with colleagues.
