Your Opportunity
As the Manager, Apprenticeship Commencements and Inductions you will be responsible for:

  • providing leadership and management over the Apprentice Commencements and Inductions team, as part of the broader Apprenticeship Management and Administration (AMA) business unit;
- cultivating and maintaining key relationships with employers and other government departments and industry bodies, in order to support TAFE Queensland SkillsTech as the training provider of choice for trade and technical training; and
- ensuring the Region's compliance with legislative requirements as they pertain to Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), including the timely and cost-effective completion of state-wide notifications and inductions.


This position reports to the the Manager, AMA and is a key member of the AMA leadership team, working collaboratively with leaders across the Client Account Management and Contract Management and Services teams.

This is a temporary (full-time) opportunity, for a duration of twelve (12) months unless otherwise determined.

The position will be based primarily at the Acacia Ridge Training Centre however you may be required to perform work at other TAFE Queensland campuses.

  • Lead, manage and develop a high performing team, providing leadership on individual and team performance and performance planning, fostering a culture of collaboration and improvement and ensuring that human resource management issues are addressed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.
  • Maintain a high level of knowledge of all applicable legislation, regulations, policies and guidelines to ensure that TAFE Queensland SkillsTech is compliant with statutory obligations regarding Prequalified supplier (PQS) and Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA).
  • Provide highlevel strategic and operational advice and guidance regarding induction completion rates, Departmental requests, compliance, and vocational education and training (VET) legislation and policy to a range of internal and external clients and stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Analyse and interpret a range of information, including induction data and other business activities, to determine the Region's compliance with contractual obligations and projected attainment of established revenue targets, including the identification of success barriers and the development of rectification strategies, where appropriate.
  • Build strong professional relationships, and work in partnership with key internal and external stakeholders, to develop effective industry engagement strategies, identify business training needs and develop business expansion opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain effective collegial networks within TAFE Queensland, including actively representing the Region's interest in forums and networks relevant to notifications and induction activities.
  • Lead the development, and regular review, of processes and procedures relating to the operational activities of the team; identifying and collaboratively implementing strategies to improve services and increase business opportunities.
  • Work as a collaborative member of the AMA Leadership team, maintaining operational knowledge of the various AMA functions, including how these functions interact and contribute to the overall success of the business unit, the Region and TAFE Queensland more broadly.
