Principal Control Systems Engineer

Support the broader Generation & New Energy team from one of our Australian offices. Take the lead in designing industrial control systems, communication systems, and electrical protection systems for power stations.

Energy Expertise

Our Energy team focuses on ensuring safe and reliable power supplies, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and implementing future energy solutions for sustainable urban transitions.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise in power generation, with a strong background in thermal and renewable generation.
  • Lead the design of power station control and instrumentation systems, including PLC and DCS-based systems.
  • Collaborate on communication systems design for control and protection systems, employing various industrial protocols.
  • Contribute to the design of power station secondary systems, including electrical protection and excitation systems.
  • Ensure compliance with standards and regulations while conducting electrical engineering analyses.
  • Act as a technical leader, building networks and fostering industry relationships.
  • Anticipate and fulfill client needs, providing expert technical input on projects and ensuring client satisfaction.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelors Degree (Engineering) or Equivalent.
  • Chartered status CPENG and registered (RPEQ, RPEV)
  • Demonstrated experience in thermal and renewable generation projects.
  • Proven track record in delivering complex power generation projects.
  • Extensive experience in the consultancy sector.
  • Competent in managing project risks and ensuring safety in design practices.
  • Skilled in delivering cost-effective client solutions and maintaining strong client relationships.
  • Proficient in business development and quality assurance systems.
  • Experienced in mentoring junior engineers and overseeing project scopes.
  • Strength in transferring technical expertise and fostering team growth.
