Mechanical Fitter (Rollingstock Maintainer)

Location: Adelaide (Dry Creek), SA

About the role:

We are searching for a skilled mechanical fitter to become part of our safety-focused team at our Adelaide (Dry Creek) Wagon Maintenance Facility. This position will manage the effective operational maintenance of Aurizon's rollingstock to ensure the secure and efficient operation of Aurizon's fleet within the Bulk Central business.

The job involves day and afternoon shifts, with occasional Saturday work needed (4 times a year) along with the chance for overtime.

You will be accountable for:

  • Conducting examinations and inspections of rollingstock to detect faults or defects.
  • Supervising the movement of rollingstock within the operational area and executing instructions related to rollingstock movements and safety procedures.
  • Performing repairs, component replacements, servicing, and alterations to rollingstock.
  • Ensuring that all tasks are carried out following technical and operational standards.
  • Advancing the implementation and application of work processes and practices to ensure ongoing quality enhancement.
  • Providing material requirements to guarantee the safe and efficient operation of rollingstock.

About you:

  • Mechanical Trade qualification (mandatory).
  • Extensive knowledge of equipment functions, defects, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Unrestricted 'C' class Driver's License.
  • Forklift License (preferred).
  • Keen attention to detail and strong problems solving abilities.
  • Effective verbal communication skills and the capacity to work within a team setting.
  • Capability to juggle multiple competing priorities.
  • Aptitude to work in shifts.
  • Significant expertise in repairing, maintaining, and overhauling machinery.
