About The Role:

A support worker is responsible for the wellbeing of people living with disabilities or mental health care needs. Their role is to support participants to live more independently and assist them to reach their NDIS goals.

Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of a Support Worker include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting participants to perform important daily activities.
  • Facilitating daily personal hygiene and dressing tasks
  • Performing home based tasks such as food preparation, assisting with housework, homework and therapy support
  • Medication administration
  • Community access support such as facilitating public transport training, attending community activities, going to appointments and events.
  • Encouraging and supporting personal skills through hobbies, interests, games, exercise and community engagement
  • Providing emotional support and friendship

  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and selfmotivate
  • Ability to take direction
  • Sincere interest in the disability sector and mental health
  • Excellent report writing discipline
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse communities and individuals

Required Experience, Skill and Qualifications:

  • Relevant Qualifications including (desirable):
  • Certificate III or higher in Health Service Assistance/Individual Support/Aged Care/Community or alternatively current nursing degree students that have completed their aged care placement.
  • Previous employment experience in the aged care or community services industry.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
  • A current drivers' licence
  • A roadworthy and registered car with comprehensive car insurance
  • Valid Police Check (renewable every three years)
  • Working with Children's Check
Please note it is a condition of employment to be fully vaccination against Covid-19 for this role. Proof of vaccination will be requested prior to commencement.
