The Opportunity:

A fantastic opportunity is available at Newmont, in the role of Manager - Sourcing and Portfolio Management.

This fixed term contract until 30 April 2024, to support our existing employee embarking on their exciting journey as a parent.

This leadership position, reports to the Regional Senior Director, Global Supply Management and will offer a broad scope of work in a highly varied and dynamic work environment.

This position is based in our newly commissioned Perth based office, working in a hybrid capacity, allowing for great flexibility.


The Role:


Adopting a strategic lens, this role will be responsible for the development, implementation and execution of Newmont Australia's sourcing, inflation mitigation & portfolio management strategies, policies and guidelines with the aim to drive shared goals and objectives across the entire Supply Chain for goods and services.

This role communicates Supply Chain's strategic sourcing vision and builds strong working relationships with key stakeholders.

In doing so, this role is intended to help enhance Newmont's overall strategic sourcing & spend management and does so through continuous improvement and by leading a high performing Sourcing & Portfolio team in identifying and capturing new enterprise spend areas to add value and drive cost savings.


The Essential Duties:

  • You will primarily be focused on the development and execution of our strategic sourcing strategies for high risk / high spend commodities and the ongoing management of regional portfolios. In doing so, you will invest your efforts into ensuring achievement of leading practice procurement objectives.
  • Contributing to operational excellence, you will be responsible for developing and aligning the overarching regional sourcing and portfolio management plans including project execution timelines, resource planning and savings targets. You will do so in collaboration with our site, regional and corporate teams.
  • With our value of Sustainability in mind, you will drive sourcing and portfolio methodology change management within our organisation to ensure best practice.
  • An essential accountability includes rationalizing the selection of suppliers to optimize Newmont's supply base. With the support of the Sustaining Operations team, you will help foster strong relationships with suppliers, monitor and improve supplier performance so as to ensure contractual agreements are adhered to and to protect and advance Newmont as a business.

People are our greatest asset and you will be responsible for leading our Sourcing and Portfolio team, ensuring the provision of technical knowledge, ongoing development through mentoring and coaching and succession planning for a strong talent pipeline.

About You:


With your seasoned knowledge of Supply Chain and Procurement, you will be able to hit the ground running in this role.

Your experience in senior management roles is evident in your working history and you demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of strategic sourcing and portfolio management.

You possess strong communication skills both of the verbal and written variety and are comfortable with negotiating and influencing a positive outcome for all.

This is coupled with solid systems knowledge such as SAP or an equivalent level software package.

With your extensive leadership skills, you will demonstrate confidence in leading a dynamic team who are clear on their performance expectations whilst being able to provide support and guidance when it is needed.
