About the team:


The Fraud and Corruption Control Team is responsible for preventing, detecting, and investigating internal and external fraud related to the department.

The team also provides anti-corruption services/advice and is a key liaison point for the department in relation to the National Anti-Corruption Commission.

The team is a small but cohesive unit of qualified and highly skilled officers who are passionate about what they do.

- have demonstrated working knowledge of the Commonwealth Fraud Control Framework 201- have demonstrated experience managing competing priorities while maintaining high work standards
- have experience in building relationships both with internal and external stakeholders
- have a demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with stakeholders to build departmental fraud risk management and fraud control capabilities
- have a demonstrated ability to manage, develop and mentor staff.

What you will do:


The key functions of the Fraud Response Manager are to support the Fraud Control Officer and lead the Fraud Response Team to assess and thoroughly investigate allegations of fraud and corruption against departmental staff and contractors, as well as recipients of services or benefits administered by the department.

You will need to gain a knowledge of a diverse range of funding models, services and functions of the Department of Industry, Science and Resources.


The Fraud Response Manager will:

  • Manage the Fraud Response Team
  • Assess, investigate, and deal with incidents of fraud, corruption or suspected fraud and corruption.
  • Provide fraud advice as required.
  • Assist the Fraud Control Officer to communicate key issues relating to fraud allegations and assessments, and any emerging themes to Senior Management.
  • Manage matters accepted for assessment or investigation, ensuring they are undertaken in line with AGIS and departmental policies.
  • Work with stakeholders to address fraud risks identified from fraud assessments or investigations to prevent further fraud against the department.
  • Provide advice that has sufficient information to support the facts, and recommendations are well considered and practical.
  • Review and update assessment and investigation policies to ensure compliance with AGIS.
  • Respond to fraud after it has occurred to reduce or disrupt additional consequences stakeholder engagement and working with the Fraud Prevention and Detection managers.
