Why Your Role Matters:


Scholarly Communications and Repositories (SCR) provides a range of services to assist academic staff and postgraduate researchers to manage research resources.

This includes research data and dataset management, development and support services for managing and sharing information assets, and the management of scholarly outputs through an institutional repository.

SCR participates in e-research projects and services supporting research data management needs of the University.


The Data Support Officer works collaboratively with the SCR team to support Library data publishing and research data management planning services.


Who You Are:

***- Degree from a higher education institution or equivalent level of knowledge gained through any other combination of education, training and/or experience.

  • Demonstrated understanding of electronic information delivery in an academic library or research environment.
  • Sound understanding of requirements for information management throughout the research lifecycle, including scholarly communication in a university or research environment.
  • Understanding of current information management technologies and standards, encoding standards (e.g. XML) and metadata.
  • Eligibility for Associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association will be well regarded.
  • Strong liaison and communication skills, including the ability to document procedures and workflows, understanding business requirements, communicating technical concepts to nontechnical audiences, and liaising with staff in a matrix organisation.
  • Proven ability to work accurately with a high level of attention to detail.
  • An understanding of and commitment to UNSW's aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
