The Melbourne Racing Club (MRC) is one of Australia's most prestigious Sports, Events and Property Development companies. As well as running elite horse racing at Caulfield, Ladbrokes Park (Sandown) and Mornington Racecourses, we own 13 pub venues under the Pegasus Leisure Group (PLG), an emerging collection of owned events such as The Peninsula Picnic and the MRC Foundation, our charitable arm.
An exciting opportunity to join the Marketing team as a Public Relations Coordinator on a 6-month contract . Based at Caulfield Racecourse, this role will assist with the implementation of the Club's Public Relations and strategic communication strategies across major campaign periods, including the upcoming Caulfield Cup Carnival.
The successful candidate will be required to work feature race days.
What will my duties be?
Provide support to the PR manager Support the development and execute the implementation of the 2023 Carlton Draught Caulfield Cup Carnival campaign, PR and content strategy Assist with the management of PR elements including creation and distribution of media material, pitching and executing media opportunities Coordinate PR requirements with media partners to leverage the value of these partnerships Profile the stories and people of our sport in line with campaign periods and racedays to generate positive awareness Coordinate and execute PR and media activity for events, media launches and racedaysSkills & Experience
Tertiary qualification in Public Relations, Professional Communications, Journalism, Media, Marketing, or related discipline Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar role or PR agency Outstanding verbal and written communication skills The ability to take direction and work cooperatively as part of a wide team, whilst also being proactive and a self-starter Demonstrated networking ability and established relationships with media highly regarded Knowledge of key industry players, general racing knowledge well regardedWhat's in it for me?
