An exciting opportunity exists for a
Technician Officer Grade 1 to join the
Intensive Care Unit at
Wollongong Hospital.

What you'll be doing


The incumbent of this position provides assistance, and supports the staff of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) by ensuring all the equipment within ICU is maintained and ready for use in coordination with Hospital Biomedical Engineers.

The position holder ensures stores are routinely ordered and stock levels are maintained in an efficient and resourceful manner as well as maintaining the ordering databases so they are kept up to date and the department is resourced appropriately at all times.

Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven's major referral and teaching hospital and has bed base of more than 500.

The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.


Wollongong is located an hours drive south of Sydney on a narrow coastal strip bordered by the Royal National Park to the north, Lake Illawarra to the south, the Tasman Sea to the east and the Illawarra Escarpment to the west.

COVID-19 Vaccination Compliance


All NSW Health workers are required to have completed an up-to-date course of a COVID-19 vaccine (3 doses for Category A roles, 2 doses for Category B roles) which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).

New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

  • Demonstrated experience working within an acute healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in computer literacy including knowledge of Microsoft Office and database management skills.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and complete activities including ability to work within scope of practice and seek assistance when required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Work Health and Safety and of quality systems.
