Job Opportunity: Manager, Aged Care Services

Location: Relocate to Maningrida, Northern Territory, Australia – A remote Aboriginal Community located 520 km east of Darwin.

Organisation: This facility provides a mix of residential and community aged care services to a population of approximately 3,500 people. They prioritize flexible and culturally appropriate care, tailored to meet the needs of older Aboriginal individuals in the community.

Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Manager to lead an Aged Care Services team in Maningrida. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing programs, overseeing resources, and ensuring compliance with government regulations. This role requires an individual with a deep understanding of Indigenous culture and experience in remote locations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Aged Care Flexible program, ensuring effectiveness and alignment with community needs.
  • Oversee Commonwealth Home Care Packages, Home Support programs, and NDIS services.
  • Liaise with the accountant regarding budget allocation/expenditure and individual client needs.
  • Maintain and update policies/procedures to meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate client assessments to determine care needs.
  • Ensure compliance with government requirements for regulatory reporting.
  • Lead continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance service delivery.
  • Conduct risk assessments and act as an advocate for clients as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant Management and Nursing qualifications.
  • Extensive experience in managing programs within an Aged Care context, ideally in Indigenous and remote settings.
  • Strong knowledge of Aged Care Standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to support and train local community members.
  • Indigenous and remote experience is required for this position.

Compensation Package:

  • Competitive salary of $136,000 plus 11% superannuation
  • Six weeks of annual leave

About the Facility: The Aged Care and Community Services team consists of 38 dedicated individuals, including a manager, NDIS support coordinator, chef, and a strong contingent of local Aboriginal community support workers, who make up 79% of the workforce.

The residential facility, located along the picturesque coastline, operates 24/7 and provides a safe and serene environment for their elderly residents. The emphasis is on promoting independence and fostering familial connections, with daily sunsets offering a tranquil backdrop.
