Position Information:

Woronora River Public School is a small school located next to the beautiful Woronora River in the Sutherland Shire.

The staff are passionate about building and maintaining continuous improvement that is focused on teaching with precision in every classroom for increased growth and achievement of every student.

Current student enrolment is 64 comprising of 7% Aboriginal students and 19% students with English as an additional Language Dialect.

Woronora River Public School provides a comprehensive student welfare program including the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) framework. The three school-wide expectations are Respectful, Safe and Engaged.

Student well-being is highly valued by the school community and a comprehensive range of programs and initiatives are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, as well as to promote self-confidence and self-esteem.

Selection Criteria:

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary.

  • Proven ability as an experienced executive with extensive capacity to demonstrate high level interpersonal skills, organisational skills, and teaching performance to manage the complex demands of dual teaching and principal responsibilities.
  • Extensive capacity to proactively communicate and visibly engage with the entire school community in authentic ways that are culturally sensitive and innovative with a strong commitment to maintaining valuable partnerships with parents and the wider community.
  • Demonstrated capacity to inspire, work side by side with the school community and model highly effective educational practices and continuous improvement in the current and future climate of educational change.
  • Proven ability to lead Aboriginal Education across the school and the wider community and ensure Aboriginal Histories and Cultures are authentically embedded by staff across all teaching and learning programs.
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide inclusive leadership in a small school setting with experience in maximising the available resources to enhance teaching and learning and student and staff wellbeing across multistage classes.
  • Proven ability to be an open, approachable, and visible leader with outstanding interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to promoting the school profile and enhancing partnerships with parents and the wider educational community.

General Selection Criteria:

  • High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
  • Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
  • Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
  • Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
  • Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
