The AusIndustry Business Outreach network section is the department's front-line, face-to-face national service offering.

AusIndustry provides a network of 30 Regional Managers across the country who are connected to regions, communities and industries and is your local business connection.


The Business Outreach Support Team is a high performing team providing administrative, media and communication support to the AusIndustry Business Outreach network section, and are based in Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, and Melbourne state offices.


  • Good organisational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver high quality outcomes on time.
  • The ability to adapt and be flexible when circumstances change.
  • Have a sound general knowledge of communicationbased roles, including content creation and social media writing.
  • A collaborative, cooperative approach to working as part of a team.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

What you will do:


As a Business Outreach Support Assistant, you will report to the Senior Business Outreach Support Officer, and you will undertake tasks of moderate complexity and work under general direction.

You will travel as required to support the Regional Managers as a representative of the Department and the Commonwealth government.


  • Provide Business Outreach network administrative support and assistance (e.g., updating phone lists, travel tracker etc).
  • Assist in the creation of the Business Outreach network newsletters using Swift Digital.
  • Provide support and research analysis for Business Outreach network projects.
  • Support Business Outreach network marketing and communication activities.
  • Perform basic research and data analysis to enable accurate reporting.
  • Assist in the delivery of projects under the direction of higher classification levels.
  • Undertake activities to develop knowledge and expertise in relation to the Business Outreach network.
  • Prepare documents for review by senior staff.

The department does currently offer flexible work opportunities for many roles.

This vacancy can be located in any capital city in Australia, although flexible or remote work arrangements may be considered.
