A bit about the role
Join our Waste Collection Services Unit in this newly created role of Team Leader Waste Projects to lead cross-departmental, stakeholder and community collaboration and communications, in the development and successful delivery of waste and litter projects, policy and strategy.

You will lead a small but growing team as well as supervise consultants and contractors.

What you will do

  • Develop and deliver projects, policy, strategy and work plans
  • Prepare and manage budgets
  • Stay updated on relevant policy, legislation and grants
  • Represent Council at relevant local and statewide forums
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with state government, councils and waste and litter organisations
  • Provide strategic and specialist input on waste, litter and circular economy policy and practices
  • Undertake research and evaluation

What you will bring

  • Degree or diploma in environmental management or project management
  • Knowledge of the local and state government waste and litter management policy and legislative framework
  • Proven ability to develop and deliver projects, policy and strategy
  • Ability to gain co-operation and assistance from stakeholders, members of the public and other employees
  • Experience leading, motivating, developing and managing staff
  • Well-developed ability to communicate both written and verbally
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a positive, proactive, and flexible attitude
