The Category and Contracts Manager is responsible for working with key stakeholders to understand relevant Qantas Group business needs, work to develop and maintain the ongoing management of aligned category strategies that ensure value for money, appropriate levels of service and compliance with procedures and professional best practice.


The Category and Contracts Manager will work with the Head of Procurement (overseeing a large portfolio of categories) and peers to ensure that an appropriate category strategy is established that sets out how the Qantas Group will approach the assigned categories to support the business and deliver value in the short and long term.

They will be responsible for ensuring that execution of the strategy and strategic sourcing activities occur in line with the category strategy as well as delivering to targets as set out within the Group Procurement team (e.g. benefit targets, Indigenous spend targets etc).

The Category and Contracts Manager will be responsible for:

  • Maximising the value Qantas receives from contracts, leveraging value beyond these suppliers with key suppliers;
  • Ensuring the team identifies and captures all warranty and insurance claims;
  • Ensuring full adoption of supplier governance framework consistent with Group Procurement standards;
  • Ensuring stakeholders are suitably involved and priorities are addressed.

You'll have:

  • 510 years strategic sourcing, supplier relationship and procurement experience, including at least 1 year in a Supplier Relationship Management role Tertiary qualifications in Procurement or Business Management Proven commercial contract management and supplier performance management experience. Advanced influencing, communication, and negotiation skills Strong leadership skills with demonstrable ability in managing large teams running cross functional projects/teams, delivering outcomes in a time sensitive environment Able to manage change
