The UWA School of Agriculture and Environment is a school with a commitment to high impact research quality teaching.

It spans the broad disciplines of Agricultural and Resource Economics, Agricultural Science, Agricultural Technology, Environmental Science, and Geography and Planning.

About the opportunity


The School is looking to build further capacity in the areas of cropping systems, precision agriculture and agricultural technology (digital agriculture).

You will undertake independent teaching and research relevant to the discipline.

You will deliver world-class teaching, supervise Honours, Masters or PhD research students, and develop collaboration with researchers within and outside the School.


To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • A PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline or other higher professional qualifications appropriate to their discipline
  • Experience in at least one of the following: cropping systems, precision agriculture, or agricultural technology (digital agriculture)
  • Training or experience in one or more of remote/proximal sensing, sitespecific technologies, automation, Python coding or data science is desirable
  • Evidence of a commitment to highquality teaching with a willingness to develop curriculum and a commitment to continuous improvement and enhancing the student experience
  • A good understanding of mixed farming systems in temperate climates
  • A demonstratable track record relative to opportunity of original research and/or industry impact in agriculture including some highquality publication outputs. Evidence of some achievement in securing research funding is desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially with diverse groups, both internal and external to the University with evidence of effective leadership and teamwork, teambuilding and mentoring
  • Demonstrate evidence of successful supervision or cosupervision of HDR students, relative to opportunity
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly with regards to undergraduate and postgraduate students and developing collaborations and liaison with industry, farmers and local and international organisations
