Covering an expansive geographical area which includes the Central Coast, Sydney's Northern Beaches and North Shore, Catholic Schools Broken Bay is a system serving 45 Catholic Schools with around 17,000 students from Kindergarten to Year 12.

The Role

As a member of the Payroll Team, reporting to the Employee Services & Payroll Manager this role encompasses assisting with the end-to-end payroll processing of Catholic Schools Broken Bay's (CSBB) fortnightly payroll for all permanent, temporary and casual employees.

Payroll Officers provide support to colleagues in the Capability and Enablement of our People Workstream (CEP) and Financial Viability Workstreams in areas such as preparation of reports, payroll related data, statistical and financial data, end of month, reconciliation and general administration.

This is a full-time 6 month contract role within the Capability and Enablement of our People Workstream. Ideally, we are looking for someone who is immediately available or can start at short notice.

Key role responsibilities:

  • Processes transactions in relation to payroll related claims and expenses, casual timesheets, superannuation deductions, salary packaging and sacrificing arrangements for staff and provide information to external parties in a timely, accurate and efficient manner
  • Utilises PHRIS to calculate and process employee leave entitlements, including but not limited to; annual leave, personal leave, long service leave, in accordance with the relevant enterprise agreement and award
  • Maintains and inputs data for the Employee Masterfile relating to PAYG deductions, bank accounts, superannuation and other deduction calculations
  • Assists with the review of salary and wages computations and other information in order to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies and ensure accuracy of the payroll
  • Maintains reports and payroll transactions to support the integrity of the system and to meet audit requirements
  • Issues and records adjustments to pay related previous errors and retrospective increases

About You

As the ideal candidate you will meet the following key requirements:

  • End-to-end payroll processing
  • Intermediate Word & Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Oracle People Soft is desirable
  • Ability to interpret multiple enterprise agreements
  • Experience working in a large size, fast paced organisation
  • Experience with the Education sector is desirable
  • Willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission of the Catholic Church and the values of CSBB.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a capability to build and maintain solid relationships
  • Clear communicator and able to hold a concise conversation
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team and share knowledge
  • Ability to problem solve with a hands-on-approach when required
  • An ability to prioritise, plan, multi-task and manage time effectively, with an ability to work independently
  • Mindset of Continual improvement, excellent attention to detail and accuracy
