About the Opportunity
 The Carers Program provides an opportunity to work across the District to implement activities and projects that represent the needs of carers in the health system.

The position will work closely with the Carers Program Coordinator and key partners across the District to promote an environment that better supports and includes carers across services and facilities in SWSLHD.

What You'll be Doing
 The Carers Program Officer is responsible for the implementation of activities and projects to advocate for and represent the needs of carers in the health care system. This involves partnering with health staff and consumers to promote an environment that better supports and includes carers across services and facilities in South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD).

How to Apply

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline (health promotion/education, allied health, communication etc.) as determined by employer.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the carer experience and issues encountered in the health system, including knowledge of the changes to government and community based carer support programs.
  • Demonstrated experience and skills in planning, implementation and evaluation of projects, including an understanding of health promotion principles and frameworks.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training and education to health staff.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and experience using social media (Facebook).
  • Effective organisational skills and ability to work as a team with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in website content development and management.
  • Demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge in using Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Publisher.
  • Must possess a valid Australian Drivers Licence (excluding learner driver's licences). If not already in possession, a NSW Drivers Licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment.
