Early Childhood Outcomes Division

The Early Childhood Outcomes Division leads the delivery of the Early Years Commitment program, including comprehensive investments in the critical first 5 years of life for every child - in child development and in early education and care, making investments that support families and the community now, as well as investing in long term reforms for the future.

Key initiatives will include supporting families with young children to access the services they need to support their own prosperity and wellbeing; valuing and growing the early childhood education and care sector and investing in early childhood teachers and educators.


About the role

This role will primarily provide support in the development relevant policies, programs or projects specifically focusing on the co-design of a commissioning framework, the associated resources and training programs for the Early Childhood Outcomes Division.

Some of the main responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Coordinating and participating in stakeholder engagement including forums with all teams within the Early Childhood Outcomes Division, key partners within the Department and Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Sector.
  • Support the development of innovative and engaging operational commissioning tools and resources (paper based and etools).
  • Support the preparation of papers for meetings and presentations.
  • Implementing and refining communication plan to support the Division to embed contemporary practice.
  • Contribute to updating the commissioning online platform to ensure information is engaging and user friendly.

About You

  • Commitment to customer service and the ability to work collaboratively across the Division and with external providers.
  • Demonstrated project and program management experience.
  • Adaptability and will thrive in a fastpaced work environment with a commitment to making a difference for children, families and communities.
  • The ability to easily develop positive working relationships with all stakeholders to support the implementation of a contemporary commissioning approach.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills in presenting and communicating key findings.

Essential requirements of the role

  • A valid Working with Children Check for paid employment.
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline, or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and/or experience.

Key knowledge and experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in project/program management activities, including planning, stakeholder engagement and consultation activities within the Division.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
