About the Nutrition and Dietetics Department
Our department is a vibrant and fast-paced environment with a team of 42 staff (34 EFT) across three sites. We function as one department and work in a supportive and friendly environment. We provide service to inpatients, outpatients and home/community programs, spanning acute care, sub-acute care and rehabilitation.
Our Dietitians are experts in medical nutrition therapy and are organised into clinical streams, each with a senior leader:
specialist medicine, ICU/surgical/gastro, oncology, paediatrics and mental health, sub-acute & rehab. Other key activities across our department include staff education and development, student training, quality improvement, research and food service.
About the position
This position is based primarily on the Austin site and will work as part of our Paediatrics and Mental Health stream.
Workload allocation will be across both inpatient and ambulatory settings and may vary according to operational needs across the stream and the department.
The ideal roster for this position is Thursdays and Fridays (8 hrs/day), but could be somewhat flexible and we are keen to hear from people who have relevant experience and skills.
About you:
Ideally, you'll have:
- Sound clinical nutrition knowledge in a variety of areas with demonstrated depth of knowledge in managing patients with eating disorders and general mental health conditions.
- Demonstrated understanding of hospital food service systems and how to work effectively with food service staff.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and to work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated highlevel communication skills.
- Effective counselling skills and commitment to patientcentred care.??
- Demonstrated organisational skills, efficient workload management and ability to prioritise.
