Shalimar Park is a community-based sessional kindergarten in Dandenong North.

Our recent assessment and rating visit in July this year saw us receive another exceeding rating result proudly achieving exceeding in all 7 areas of the National Quality Standards.

As an exceeding-rated service, we strive to provide a high-quality play-based education for culturally diverse families.

Our philosophy is founded on the principles of inclusive learning with an emphasis on strengthening and embedding children's agency and participation in all aspects of our service and upholding all children's safety and well-being.

Our service also respects and values the well-being of all staff and the continual development of the team. The director and educational leader is experienced and passionate with a hands-on approach. We are committed to fostering a supportive and caring culture in which everyone can flourish.

With a hands-on approach, the director supports and mentors the staff with the support of the committee of management in developing their pedagogical practice and establishing nurturing and inclusive relationships with children, families, and the community.

- Every 2 years staff are alternated to take turns in attending an all-expenses paid trip interstate to ECA's Early Childhood Conferences to support continual high-quality professional development.

- Regular paid team meetings and training are provided throughout the year with support from external services and consultants including internal meetings to facilitate critical self-reflection of educator practice.

- Enjoy the benefits of working in a sessional kindergarten environment with paid school term breaks throughout the year, and annual leave over the Christmas / summer holidays.

You work 40 weeks of the year but are paid for 52 weeks. The highest level of Diploma under the VECTEA award is 2.3 based on experience which is $27.68 per hour. - Regular Team-building opportunities

Description

Job Role We are seeking applicants for our 4-year-old group program. This position is for a part-time diploma-qualified educator to join our experienced teacher and co-educator in one of our 4-year-old groups with up to 29 children. The applicant will demonstrate experience in play-based programs and a strong ability to work with children with a diverse range of abilities. We offer a salary based on the Victorian Early Childhood Teachers and Educators Agreement 2020 (VECTEA), regular professional development opportunities, and a collaborative and professional working environment.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position you must have
- a minimum of 2 years of experience (ideally in a sessional kindergarten environment although not a pre-requisite)

  • Hold an approved Diploma qualification in Early Childhood,
    WWCC, and current first aid certificates
  • Be able to support the teacher in planning and implementing the program, and be confident in taking observations of children's learning and development
- a strong understanding and the capacity to work with children with a diverse range of abilities

  • A sound understanding of playbased pedagogy
- work and manage time effectively with mínimal supervision
- have excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team.

  • Work in a professional manner at all times and ensure that the service meets the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Law (National Law), Education and Care Services National Regulations (Regulations), relevant curriculum framework, the Quality Improvement Plan, and policies and procedures of the service
