We are introducing two new Accelerator initiatives in collaboration with the Western Australian Government and global mining company, Rio Tinto. Through these programs, we aim to support over 72 startups in the next 3 years, concentrating on areas such as decarbonisation, mining technology, and nature-based solutions.What you'll do:As the Investment Program Lead, your primary responsibility will be to oversee our Nature Tech program, backing 12 pre-seed startups annually and leading a team of experts to assist companies in enhancing their technology, navigating the path to achieve product-market fit, and securing a Seed round of funding. The startups we invest in will focus on nature, biodiversity, agriculture, food, forestry, water, the built environment, and the circular economy.Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Managing the process of selecting, investing in, and accelerating 12 nature tech companies each year, with a specific emphasis on nature, biodiversity, food, forestry, agriculture, water, the built environment, and the circular economy
  • Evaluating and validating early-stage ventures, technology, science, and founding teams, conducting due diligence, and negotiating investment agreements
  • Identifying crucial resources for startup founders and creating scalable methods to support them
  • Expanding and strengthening our local network in Perth and other significant climate startup ecosystems
Startup support:
  • Leading and deploying a versatile team of Founders Factory experts to assist companies in refining their technologies and solutions, optimizing business models, logistics, and supply chains, exploring avenues for testing, raising capital, and commercializing their ventures
  • Establishing connections within the local WA community with founders, angels, VCs, and universities. Ideal candidates should possess exceptional interpersonal skills, determination, resilience, deep empathy for founders, and a strong interest in technology and startups
  • Demonstrating prior experience in operating within Deep Tech, climate, or nature tech industries
  • A proven track record of scaling a nature or climate-focused company, with the ability to collaborate with governments and corporate entities
  • Showing relentless drive and enthusiasm for identifying opportunities, building relationships, and driving results
  • Having personal networks encompassing the startup, VC, and talent communities in Perth and Australia
  • Ability to effectively operate, remain composed, and maintain productivity in challenging and uncertain situations
  • Based in Perth, Western Australia
