The new Light Rail will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, spanning 12 kilometres and utilising stateoftheart vehicles that delivers comfortable, userfriendly and highperformance services. By 2026, around 28,000 people will use Parramatta Light Rail every day and an estimated 130,000 people will be living within walking distance of light rail stops.

The role

  • Based at our Camellia Depot, Parramatta and reporting to the Infrastructure Manager the Person in Charge of Works (PICOW) is responsible for issuing On Track and Isolation permits, making sure the scope (of permit) comply with permit conditions and ultimately ensuring work parties safety. To achieve this you will provide the critical communications link between work parties and the Network Control Centre to coordinate track protection activities. Your role will also include monitoring compliance with rail safety regulations and company policies and maintaining detailed records of track protection activities, incidents, and any safety breaches.

What you bring

  • Your experience as a PICOW / Protection officer will be supported by Track Protection officer certification, RIW and White Card (or willingness to obtain). This will be combined with the ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline driven business whilst maintaining an uncompromising attitude to safety. Equally important is the ability to influence and build effective working relationships both internally and externally with a focus on stakeholder engagement. This role will see you work both independently and contribute as part of a broader team.
